Terroir

Pottery is made of earth. Until modern times, potters sourced their clay from the earth close to them, resulting in colors, textures, and minerals very specific to that place. Modern day pottery is often inspired by the local landscape, but is made from clay and minerals sourced globally. Not only does this process involve a long journey and large carbon footprint, it also prevents the raw materials from telling their story.

What if pottery once again carried the flavor, the story, and the mineral elements of the earth from which it came?
